Project MABULIG is a research initiative funded by DOST PCIEERD and implemented by the Biodiversity Informatics and Research Center (BIRC) at FSUU. Its primary goal is to digitize the rich amphibian biodiversity of the Caraga Region by creating high-fidelity Mobile Augmented Reality (AR) tools for interactive education and conservation awareness.
Our team collects data and captures images of frog species from the FSUU Natural History Collection. These are processed into 3D models. Users can use our mobile application to scan markers or surfaces, bringing these 3D frog models to life on their screens, allowing for a detailed, immersive study of the species' morphology without handling live specimens.
Currently, Project MABULIG focuses specifically on amphibian species found in the Caraga region. However, the methodology developed here lays the groundwork for future digitization of other flora and fauna in our repository.
