A two-day workshop titled "Core Writing Skills: Manuscript Preparation and Publication for Undergraduates" was successfully conducted last June 10-11, 2026. The workshop aims to provide practical guidance for students to familiarize the structure of manuscript and acquire the basic skills in navigating steps of in preparing manuscripts for publication. Through hands-on exercises and group presentation, they able to strengthen and understand research culture to support their academic and professional growths.

The workshop was attend by different colleges of Father Saturnino Urios University supported by their deans. Participants was able to complete the two-day workshop and enjoy their activities and worksheets. And able to learn from the expert from manuscript sections down to preparation of the manuscript for publication.

The Biodiversity Informatics and Research Center (BIRC), in partnership with the Mabulig Project, successfully co-hosted the first installation of the Philippine Biodiversity Data Congress (PBDC 2026) last April 8, 2026. The congress served as a platform for researchers, educators, students, agencieis and partner organizations to promote the advancement of biodiversity digitization, open-access data sharing, and collaborative conservation initiatives in the Philippines.

The event featured a series of plenary sessions delivered by distinguished experts in biodiversity conservation efforts, evolutionary research, technology-driven methodology and real-time collection data of the species. In addition, participants engaged in simultaneous workshops and interactive activities designed to enhance their knowledge, biodiversity documentation, data management, and emerging digital technologies. PBDC 2026 was conducted in a hybrid format, with sessions held face-to-face while also welcoming virtual participants through Zoom and the university's official Facebook page via live streaming.

A Simulation of Philippine Biodiversity Documentation was successfully conducted during the 1st Philippine Biodiversity Data Congress 2026 through the Field Experiential Learning Course held on April 8, 2026. The activity was designed to provide participants with an immersive, hands-on learning experience in biodiversity documentation, amphibian research methods, and general fieldwork practices. Through guided field exercises, participants were introduced to standard techniques in species observation, documentation, data recording, specimen handling, and ethical field research.

The activity attracted a total of seventy (70) registered participants representing sixteen (16) institutions, agencies and partner organizations. The diverse participation encouraged collaboration and knowledge exchange among students, researchers, educators, and environmental practitioners. By combining theoretical discussions with practical field applications, the experiential learning course enhanced participants' understanding of biodiversity assessment methodologies and strengthened their skills in conducting field-based research.

The Digital Imaging: Photogrammetry and 3D Modeling Workshop was successfully conducted as part of the MABULIG Project (Mobile Augmented Reality on Biodiversity Utilization using Digital Lens for Species Identification) in conjunction with the 1st Philippine Biodiversity Data Congress 2026 on April 8, 2026. The workshop was designed to equip participants with basic knowledge and practical skills in digital imaging techniques, particularly photogrammetry and three-dimensional (3D) modeling. Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, participants gained experience in image acquisition, photogrammetric workflows, and the use of specialized software for generating and processing accurate 3D models.

The workshop attracted a total of thirty-eight (38) registered participants representing sixteen (16) different institutions, agencies and partner organizations. The diverse representation of participants fostered knowledge sharing and collaboration among individuals, highlighting the growing interest in application of digital imaging and 3D modeling technologies in relation to biodiversity research, documentation, and education. Overall, the successful conduct of the workshop contributed to the objectives of the MABULIG Project by strengthening participants' technical capabilities and promoting innovative digital tools for biodiversity assessment and species documentation.
